Smooth
This one replaces my $200 broken ProForm, so my comparisons my be a bit unfair. The AFG is much smoother, much more stable, and feels more ergonomically correct than the old one.
I bought this one based on the positive reviews of the 4.0 while being a bit shorter in length and less expensive. The warranty is also very good, although I've had no occasion to test it yet.
The elliptical was shipped straight from Johnson Health via TP Freight. The order says "inside delivery", but my driveway will not accommodate a big tractor/trailer rig. Not sure how the single driver could have wrangled it indoors either. I had to arrange to meet the truck at a local park with my pickup. All worked out fine, but be skeptical of "indoor delivery." Assembly was straight forward with hardware in individual bags marked by instruction number. What a great idea. I noted that the assembled joints all had roller bearings, unlike the greased bushings on the ProForm. I had it assembled and tested that evening, and working out on it the next day. I was also pleased to find it had a book rack of sorts, something not mentioned in the sales literature. The small lip/shelf on the control panel holds my Kindle cover, I just need to increase the text size a bit for my presbyopia. Might also work with magazines and thin books and younger eyes.
I've been using it four days a week for over three weeks now, and am very pleased with my choice.
